Procurement Specialist

The Procurement Specialist will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services that meet the company’s operational requirements. This role involves vendor management, contract negotiation, cost control, and ensuring timely delivery while maintaining quality standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of procurement processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively across multiple departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sourcing and Supplier Management:
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers and develop strong relationships with existing vendors.
- Assess supplier capabilities, negotiate terms, and secure competitive pricing.
- Purchase Orders and Contracts:
- Create and manage purchase orders, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to ensure optimal terms for the company.
- Ensure all contracts adhere to legal, safety, and environmental guidelines.
- Cost Management:
- Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or timelines.
- Track procurement spending and identify areas for process improvements or cost reductions.
- Inventory and Supply Chain Coordination:
- Coordinate with inventory and supply chain teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and services.
- Monitor stock levels and anticipate purchasing needs to avoid shortages or excess inventory.
- Supplier Performance Monitoring:
- Evaluate supplier performance regularly to ensure adherence to quality, delivery, and cost standards.
- Address any performance issues and develop improvement plans where necessary.
- Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure all procurement activities comply with the company’s policies and relevant regulations.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, suppliers, and pricing data for audit and reporting purposes.
- Cross-Department Collaboration:
- Work closely with other departments (e.g., finance, operations, and legal) to understand procurement needs and ensure smooth execution of the procurement process.
- Provide support and guidance to internal stakeholders on procurement best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Previous experience or coursework in supply chain management or consulting
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of supplier management and contract law is a plus.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in managing international suppliers or handling imports/exports.
- Familiarity with sustainable procurement practices.
The hiring pay range for this position is $60,000 - $80,000 per year based on skills, education, and experience relevant to the role.
