Laboratory Research Assistant or Associate
SystImmune Redmond, Washington, United States (On-site)
This role is in the preclinical research and development group. The ideal candidate is energetic and motivated with experience in standard laboratory practices related to cell biology, immunology or drug development.
Essential Functions
- Conduct experiments and support discovery projects as a part of the Immuno-Oncology Department
- Culture and cryopreserve cancer cell lines and process primary human immune cells from blood
- Perform flow cytometry, and operate liquid handling instruments and other automation
- Write and follow standard operating procedures and good laboratory practices
- Meet experimental and data reporting timelines
- Keep excellent experimental records of experiments
- Other responsibilities as needed or assigned
Education and Experience
- Bachelors or master’s degree in a life science discipline or equivalent years of experience
- Research Assistant: 1-3 years of relative experience; Research Associate: 4-8 years of relative experience
- Experience with a LIMS software, or inventory management software (e.g. FreezerPro)
- Demonstrated success in adoption of new technologies
- Proven success in troubleshooting and innovation on existing platforms
- Strong organizational and communication skills
Work Environment
- Benchtop work in a BSL-2 laboratory environment, including potential exposure to biohazards
- Adherence to Health and Safety standards when working with temperature-controlled systems, including liquid and vapor phase liquid nitrogen
Physical Demands
- Requires repetitive multi-channel pipetting, single channel pipetting, and computer data entry
- Requires repetitive multi-channel pipetting, single channel pipetting, and computer data entry
- Fine motor movements in fingers/hands to operate computers and other office and lab equipment, repetitive motion with lab equipment
- Stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, or climbing ladders, occasional lifting to 30pounds
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- May need to work outside of standard working hours at times
- This role is currently working onsite and is expected to work onsite for working hours, with flexibility to work start time. The work location for this role is in Redmond, WA.
