Scientist - Antibody Discovery

About the position

Located in Redmond WA, Systimmune Inc. is a bio-pharmaceutical company focused on the treatment of cancer through developing novel therapeutic multi-specific antibodies, as well as antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs). Our objective is to create biologics that work through systematic intervention on the solid tumor micro-environment, to either directly attack the tumor and/or to activate the immune system to attack the tumor.

We are seeking a highly motivated Scientist who will contribute to the discovery of novel antibody therapeutics. This position will participate in the development and advancement of cancer therapeutics. The successful candidate will contribute to all aspects of antibody discovery, from designing immunization campaigns to therapeutic lead selection.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support therapeutic antibody lead selection using multiple antibody discovery platforms
  • Aid in the conduct of immunization campaigns for specific immuno-oncology targets
  • Work in a fast-paced team environment to identify antibodies to desired targets within company timelines
  • Perform multiparametric flow cytometric analysis of mammalian cells in a high-throughput manner
  • Ability to perform fluorescence-based sorting of yeast and mammalian cells
  • Prepare and generate yeast display libraries for the selection of antibodies against desired targets
  • Assist with routine maintenance and operation of cell sorter
  • Prioritize work on multiple projects, support, and closely work with other divisions to advance company goals
  • Plan experiments, outline research procedures to be followed and provide training to subordinate personnel to carry out research
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures and effectively document and present results to colleagues
  • Work with other internal research departments and development groups in China. Plan time to accommodate meetings and technical support
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience
  • Ph.D. degree with 2 or more years of antibody discovery or relevant experience (relevant PhD research counts toward years of experience).
  • Strong scientific background in multiparametric flow cytometry and cell sorting (minimum 2 years).
  • History of research involving RNA extraction and cloning.
  • Experience in yeast culture and building antibody libraries is desired.
  • B cell knowledge highly desirable, but not required.
Language Ability
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills to connect with internal and external CROs.
Math Ability
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Strong scientific, medical, and analytical abilities with innovative, solution-oriented style.
Computer Skills

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access required. Proficiency with email required.
